tomorrow we head to the cariboo to visit mes parents; here’s to a safe and fun-filled road trip. there’ll be skating (for some), sledding (for all) and copious amounts of wild organic turkey and rum sauce (for me. all for me. me me me mwhaaahaaa). though, the rum sauce doesn’t go on the turkey, in case that wasn’t immediately clear.

i’m sure i’ll be snapping photos of all the rural loveliness, my petits soeurs, and all the treats (my mom has probably baked like 11 items in anticipation of our arrival). but, ta ta for now. all that remains is my question o’ the day:

If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?

I received a lovely Lotuswear raincoat for Christmas yesterday, a luxury item not on my list, but greatly appreciated. However, I’m having a bit of trouble with the sizing, and it’s this particular thing that consumes me every year. Whenever I get clothes, I have a terrible time deciding whether they’re right for me or not. So, I’ve tried on said raincoat a good 10 times since last night, acted like a 13-yr old spinning in front of the mirror, and made that pensive, “I’m-not-so-sure” face that’s giving me a major crease in my forehead. All because I won’t just put it away until I can try on a medium, and see whether it’s all in my head. Really, it’s b/c I wanted to show Carolyn my new coat this morning when we meet at Dressew at an ungodly hour to rip balls of yarn and bolts of fabric from the greedy fingers of other crafters–long live the Crafter Solidarity of yesterday, apparently ;)

Question o’ the day: what minor details do you obsess about? the state of your fingernails? whether the laundry is done? whether you said the right thing to that person at that party 3 nights ago? share your pain, people….

First, a salute to crafters everywhere. For making utilitarian things beautiful, for making random bits of stuff cooler than anyone thought possible. I add to the mix my “Travelling Creche” gifts–those origami niceties i used my fancy paper for:

All folded up.

and now, all opened up…

Let nothing you dismay.

Here I am, supposed to be cleaning the house (again!!!) for entertaining tonight.  (Mmm….proscuitto, artichoke dip, pita chips…rum balls…shortbread….oh, the high caloric goodness….. )

but, it’s time for my question o’ the day:  What is your favourite holiday time snack?  have i asked this already?  probably, but maybe your tastes have changed since then, or maybe you love this particular food so much that you’ll use any excuse to rave about how fantastic it is.

In any case,

May your day be merry and bright.

Seriously, have you ever noticed how a night off/evening away, rather than restore your energy, saps it? Don’t get me wrong, I had a fantastic time. (incredible food, a lovely (free!) stay in a rather nice hotel) It’s just that all i want to do today is drink tea and nap. I am SOOOO sleepy. Alas, small people are in da house, and life resumes.

Also, there’s all that last minutey stuff to do; buy appie stuff, wrap those last gifts, ignore the ever degenerating state of the house…you know the drill. Question o’ the day, then: Apart from coffee, what gives you pep?

Oh, and as usual, I will leave you with photos. This time they are from our annual trip (avec les McInnesesss) to VanDusen Garden’s “Festival of Lights”.

December 22, 2007

It’s no secret that I’m a bit of a pack rat.  Nor that I hold onto craft supplies without using them.  But, today, I am going to break out of that habit.  I am going to make origami wisemen out of paper Jaegen ordered from Japan as a wedding present for me.  For those of you who may not know, that’s almost 9 yrs. ago.  How’s that for artistic caution???

Question o’ the day:  which figure of the creche do you find it most easy to identify with?  or is the whole scene rather off-putting?

Not only am I feeling better today (thanks, Lindsay and Miranda, for your tips), but I am also bored of health discussions. So, in the spirit of the season, I am going to ask a Christmas Question o’the day:

What is your least favourite holiday tradition? Egg nog? Mistletoe? Everything? I want to pore over all the misanthropic details. (and so feel better about my yearly ennui ;)

or some other sharp object. were i not going out for a much anticipated night out, i would be at a clinic right now, getting drugs prescribed. as a way of avoiding the said aeration, if that wasn’t obvious. sarcasm seems an appropriate mode of expression to compliment the sharp, jabbing pains in my face. (which, btw, antihistamine and ibuprofen are barely making tolerable). my apologies in advance to all my fellow dinner guests this evening. i’m afraid i won’t be such fantastic company.

Therefore, my question o’the day: What is your drug o’ choice (for pain!)?

Also, on a lighter note, here are photosagatha-nativity-i.jpg
of Shepherd Agatha from our church’s Christmas pageant.

So, sitting here with munchkin on lap, waiting for ‘Frosty the Snowman’ to finish downloading. hoping neither of my kids are on the verge of getting really sick, though the puffy purplish cast round their eyes is suggestive of ill times ahead. In any case, here is my Question o’ the Day:

What is your favourite Christmas show/movie? Sentimental? Cheesy? Warm fuzzies all around? I’m curious.

actually, the whole thing went off rather well, if you ask me. the kids, at least, seemed to have a great time (see photos). i’ll perhaps have more to say on the subject once edmund stops crying (what’s with that? isn’t he too old for such things?) and i’ve had some sleep…so i’ll just leave you with some images.
